We are a ‘data controller’ under the EU General Data Protection Regulation and California law, and we may collect some ‘personally identifiable information’ as covered by the laws of other states. We recognize that the privacy of your personal data is important. The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to let you know how we handle the information collected through the use of this site. Portions of this site may describe privacy practices applicable to specific types of information or to information provided on specific web pages.

8. What should you know about privacy policies and data collection at any third party websites accessible from our site?

This Privacy Policy does not apply to information collected through other means such as by telephone or in person, although that information may be protected by other privacy policies.

This site is intended for a United States audience. Regardless of your location, any information you provide, including any personal data, will be transferred to and processed by a computer server located within the United States. If you are using this site in the EU, any transfer of your data will be carried out in accordance with the law, to safeguard your privacy rights and in the unlikely event of a security breach, give you remedies, or any other similar approved mechanisms. We will ensure that any transfer of your personal data to the United States is done in compliance with EU law.

1. What information do we collect from you?

In order to better serve you, we collect two types of information about our users: Personal Information and Non-Personal Information. Our primary goal in collecting information from you is to provide you with a smooth, efficient, and customized experience while using our site.

Personal Information: This is information that tells us who you are. When you engage in certain activities on this site, such as registering to receive updates and information, we may ask you to provide certain information about yourself by filling out and submitting an online form providing us personal information, such as your first and last name, mailing address, email address, employer, title and department, telephone and facsimile numbers, and other personally identifying information. Depending upon the activity, some of the information we ask you to provide is identified as mandatory and some as voluntary. If you do not provide the mandatory data with respect to a particular activity, you will not be able to engage in that activity. We collect, process and use your personal data for specific purposes if you have given your consent to the collection, processing and use of specific personal data for such purposes. You may withdraw your consent any time.

We may collect your personal data if processing is necessary for the purposes of our legitimate interests, except where such interest is overridden by your interest; or:

  • is required due to legal obligations or orders by public authorities or courts,
  • is necessary to substantiate or protect legal claims or to defend against lawsuits, or
  • serves to prevent abuse or other illegal activities.

Non-Personal Information: This refers to information that does not by itself identify a specific individual. We gather certain information about you based upon where you visit on our site in several ways. This information is compiled and analyzed on both an individual and an aggregated basis. This information may include the website’s Uniform Resource Locator (“URL”) that you just came from, which URL you go to next, what browser you are using, and your Internet Protocol (“IP”) address. A URL is the global address of documents and other resources on the World Wide Web. An IP address is an identifier for a computer or device on a Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (“TCP/IP”) network, such as the World Wide Web. Networks like the World Wide Web use the TCP/IP protocol to route information based on the IP address of the destination. In other words, an IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you are surfing the World Wide Web, allowing web servers to locate and identify your computer. Computers require IP addresses in order for users to communicate on the Internet.

2. Where do we collect information from you and how do we use it?

We do not collect any Personal Information about you unless you voluntarily provide it to us. You provide certain Personal Information to us when you: (a) register to receive information from us and register your e-mail address with us, or (b) send e-mail messages, submit forms or transmit other information online or by telephone or letter; and give us your consent, which may be withdrawn at any time. We may also collect information from you at other points on our site that state that such information is being collected.

In addition, we may also collect, or our third party content server may collect, certain Non-Personal Information. This information is ultimately stored in the form of store categories, and, in some cases, specific URLs. We use your IP address to diagnose problems with our servers, software, to administer our site and to gather demographic information.

We will primarily use your Personal Information to provide information and news to you, as requested by you. We will also use Personal Information to enhance the operation of our site, statistically analyze site use, improve our service offerings, and customize our site’s content, layout, and services. We may use Personal Information to deliver information to you and to contact you regarding administrative notices. We may also use Personal Information to resolve disputes, troubleshoot problems and enforce our agreements with you, including our site Terms of Use and this Privacy Policy; to keep a record of our transactions and communications; and as otherwise necessary or useful for us to conduct our business, so long as such use is permitted by law.

We will only share your Personal Information with third parties as outlined in this Privacy Policy and as otherwise permitted by law.

We may share Personal Information if all or part of the Company is sold, merged, dissolved, acquired, or in a similar transaction. We may share Personal Information in response to a court order, subpoena, search warrant, law, or regulation. We may cooperate with law enforcement authorities in investigating and prosecuting activities that are illegal, violate our rules, or may be harmful to other visitors.

We may also share Personal Information with other third party companies that we collaborate with or hire to perform services on our behalf. For example, we may hire a company to help us send and manage e-mail, and we might provide that company with your e-mail address and certain other information in order for them to send you an e-mail message on our behalf. Similarly, we may hire companies to host or operate some of our sites and related computers and software applications.

3. Who do we share your information with?

We do not sell, trade, or rent your Personal Information to others. We do provide some of our services through contractual arrangements with affiliates, services providers, partners and other third parties, such as Business Wire. We and our service partners use your Personal Information to operate our sites and to deliver their services.

The use of your Personal Information by our service partners is governed by the privacy policies of those service partners, and is not subject to our control.

Occasionally we may be required by law enforcement, regulatory authorities or judicial authorities to provide Personal Information to the appropriate governmental authorities. We will disclose Personal Information upon receipt of a court order, subpoena, or to cooperate with a law enforcement investigation. We fully cooperate with law enforcement agencies in identifying those who use our services for illegal activities. We reserve the right to report to law enforcement agencies any activities that we in good faith believe to be unlawful.
